Latino Legal Institute (LLI)

The work of the LLI involved restorative justice, to advocate for fairness, humanity, and equty throughout the transformational justice system with a primary focus on those affected by the system. LLI focus to legal literacy is simply defined as knowing the most basic priciples of the law. The legal literacy programs aim to empower communities with an increased knowledge of national and local laws, as well as basic human and civil rights.

Our goal is to create a safe and supportive space that offers Pro-Bono legal services on a range of critical issues that our community members may face.

Driver’s License Reinstatement:

Assisting individuals in reclaiming their driving privileges, which is often a crucial step toward rebuilding their lives

Providing vital support to immigrants navigating the complexities of immigration laws and regulations.

Criminal Records Expungement:

Empowering individuals to remove barriers associated with past criminal records, helping them to secure better opportunities and a fresh start.

For many years, the Pilsen neighborhood has been a refuge for displaced families, facing significant challenges due to a lack of investment and resources. Pilsen Neighbors Community Council (PNCC) emerged as a catalyst and organizer, leading numerous campaigns to address these issues. Our efforts span across several critical areas, including education, immigration, and environmental justice.  The Latino Legal Institute (LLI) is a crucial pillar of PNCC. Our mission is to advocate for fairness, humanity, and equity within the justice system, with a primary focus on those affected by it. We offer Pro-Bono legal services to address various community needs, including immigration assistance, driver’s license reinstatement, and criminal record expungement.
