The Dreamer Resource Fair (DRF) is a space designed to provide support and resources to individuals who identify as “dreamers” and other undocumented individuals. “Dreamers” typically refer to individuals who were brought to the United States as children without proper documentation and have been advocating for pathways to legal status, such as the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program.

Here are the key components of the DRF:

DACA Screenings/DACA Renewals: DACA is a program that provides temporary protection from deportation and work authorization for eligible undocumented individuals who entered the United States as children. At the DRF, participants can receive assistance with DACA screenings to determine their eligibility for renewal and get help with the DACA renewal process. Scholarships will be provided for processing fees to all eligible participants.

Advance Parole Workshop: Advance parole is a provision that allows DACA recipients to travel outside the United States for specific reasons, like educational, employment, or humanitarian purposes. The DRF will offer workshops to inform individuals about the process and requirements for obtaining advance parole.

Advance Parole Trip to Mexico: Attendees will have the opportunity to learn about PNCC’s educational trip to Mexico for eligible DACA recipients.

ITIN Workshop and ITIN Applications: Individual Taxpayer Identification Numbers (ITINs) are issued by the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) to individuals who are not eligible for a Social Security Number but need to fulfill tax obligations. The DRF will provide workshops and assistance in applying for ITINs, not only ensuring that individuals can meet their tax responsibilities, but educating attendees on the benefits of acquiring an ITIN number.

Financial Aid Workshop: Through our partnership with ISAC, we will host presentations on Financial Aid and loans for college students. Similarly, students will have the opportunity to learn about the alternative application (RISE Act).

Scholarship Resources: At the DRF, institutions of higher education will offer information and resources about their own scholarships and financial aid opportunities available to undocumented individuals. This can include guidance on how to apply for scholarships that do not require legal immigration status.
