Gamaliel of Metro Chicago/Pilsen Neighbors Community Council is a citywide network of values-driven, regional organizations that transform communities and create systemic change through faith based and community organizing. Administrative Assistant
Reports to: Executive Director Type: Full-time – Experienced Location: PNCC
Primary Roles & Responsibilities:
• Maintain the ED schedule, including day-to-day and long-term management of meetings, projects, and priorities
• Schedule all meetings and travel, including prioritizing meetings and communicating all relevant details to participants
• Balance conflicting priorities in order to manage workflow, ensure the completion of essential projects, and meet critical deadlines
• Ensure ED are prepared for upcoming appointments by gathering materials
necessary for each meeting
• Conduct, compile, and present research on potential funders, partners and other topics
• You’ll work with GMC and PNCC staff to collect and assemble information for presentations, projects and strategic planning
• Serve as the first point of contact for a wide variety of high-level relationships between ED and external contacts
• Facilitate, build and monitor relationships including tracking contacts in database and managing follow-up
• Handle phone, email and e-mail inquiries and respond appropriately
• Draft and edit correspondence, articles, reports and presentations; transcribe meeting notes
• Coordinate and manage special projects, including working collaboratively with staff to assure
projects meet deadlines
• Take on tasks to support the work of GMC/PNCC programs and operations and overall mission
• Work as a member of the team, willingly providing back‐up support for co‐workers when
appropriate and actively supporting group goals

Community Organizer position:
GMC/PNCC is searching for one (1) talented, hard-working community organizers committed to building a vibrant and powerful, people powered regional organizations. Successful candidates for these positions will be values-driven, self-motivated, resourceful team players. Open positions are based in: Pilsen and Southwest sides.
Principal Responsibilities:
Work with an established group of community and faith-based leaders to build relationships, develop and implement a community education program, recruit new and diverse grassroots, develop leadership skills, and organize issue-oriented campaigns related to economic development, environmental justice, restorative justice, and immigrant rights and protections. Must be proactive in the areas of campaign development, fundraising, and leadership development.
Skills & Qualifications:
• Experience as a community or labor organizer.
•Experience working with diverse populations, including various faith traditions, immigrants, and different abilities is strongly desired.
• Understanding of racial and social systems and barriers and a solid commitment to breaking down those practices.
• Experience with recruiting and training new leaders.
• Experience working with elected officials.
• Strong attention to detail and well-organized.
• Strong analytical abilities.
• Strong team player.
• Able to exercise balanced judgment in evaluating situations and making decisions, and to handle difficult or confrontational situations in a calm, consistent, and equitable manner.

Requirements:
• Bachelor’s degree preferred in related areas: Community Studies, Social Work, Political Science, or Theology.

• Must be a licensed driver with reliable transportation and ability to meet organization’s
minimum auto insurance requirements;
• Experience in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and virtual meeting tools (Zoom, Google Meet, etc.) as well as social media platforms for organizing (Facebook, Twitter, familiarity with using databases is desirable).

Part-time Paralegal
Job Summary
Pilsen Neighbors Community Council (PNCC) efforts in leading and organizing around issues in different areas, such as social and restorative justice, immigration, education, and housing have been successful.PNCC organizing philosophy will continue with the new Leadership Development Institute (LDI) building whose mission is to continue building our community leaders but as a transformation institute, that will provide a more impactful meaning to the people working in it and to the community.
One of the layers of the LDI is the Latino Legal Institute (LLI) – The work of the LLI involves restorative justice, to advocate for fairness, humanity, and equity throughout the transformational justice system with a primary focus on those affected by the system. A space that offers Pro-Bono legal services on different issues that our community may face (immigration, driver’s license reinstatement, cannabis expungement.
Under the general supervision of a licensed attorney, the paralegal performs a variety of specialized legal tasks. Gather and analyze immigration policies and relevant documents. Provide the community with legal literacy workshops. Maintains records and files.Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- MUST BE BILINGUAL and fluent IN ENGLISH AND SPANISH
- Ability to Translate Spanish to English
-Graduation from an accredited college with an associate degree or higher-level is required
-One – Two years of experience as a Paralegal is required.
-Or-
-Successful completion of a certified paralegal training program accredited by the American Bar Association. Or PostSecondary program Certification with law related courses.
-One (1) year of paralegal experience working in criminal law, or local, or federal government.
Knowledge, skills, abilities and other Characteristics
Extensive knowledge and use of legal research databases. Immigration law knowledge. General knowledge of record keeping and report preparation and procedures. Strong skills using Microsoft Word, Excel and/or the latest software used for legal research. Excellent oral communication and writing skills. Strong database and management skills. Ability to manage caseload from intake process to the completion of filing. Ability to keep clients on progress with their cases. Community advocacy by hosting workshops such as Know Your Rights. Ability to be able to work on multiple projects under tight deadlines. Maintains confidentiality of paralegal -client relationship. Ability to work independently. Must be detail-oriented, able to multitask and have strong organizational skills.

PNCC, organizers of the largest Latino festival of its kind in the country, Fiesta del Sol is searching for a talented, hard-working student, who is committed to building vibrant and powerful, people-powered regional organizations. Successful candidates will be values-driven, self-motivated, resourceful team players.
The PNCC/Fiesta del Sol Media Internship is a unique opportunity to participate in creating and bringing fun and innovative marketing strategies to life. This internship will give you exposure to Social Media Management, content creation, marketing strategies, and much more.
Requirements and skills
- Strong desire to learn along with professional drive.
- Solid understanding of different marketing techniques.
- Prominent verbal and written communication skills in English and Spanish.
- Experience with different Design programs (Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, Canva).
- Excellent knowledge of Social Media platforms (Instagram, Facebook, Youtube, Twitter, Tik-Tok).
- Passion for the marketing industry and its best practices.
- Experience with digital technology and editing software packages (e.g. Lightworks, Premiere, After Effects and Final Cut) is preferred but not required.
- Current enrollment in a related BS or Masters’s degree.
Responsibilities
- Work with our Media team to develop content for PNCC and Fiesta del Sol social media channels.
- Design and execute marketing materials consistent with PNCC and Fiesta del Sol brand guidelines, including flyers, logos, artwork, social media graphics, and web content.
- Employ innovative tactics to grow the audiences of the organization’s social media accounts and database.
- Help create and edit short-form videos for social media channels and websites.
- Support the Media team in daily tasks.
