Mrs. Inez Loredo passed on Saturday. Her passing reminds us of some of Pilsen’s greatest leaders. Inez was one of those great leaders. During a time when there were few Latinos working in the public schools, Mrs. Loredo was working at Jungman Elementary School. Her responsibilities were many but centered around engaging the new Spanish speaking families with children in the school. That position served as a starting point for her tireless investment in leaders in Jungman and in many other schools. She mentored, she encouraged, she led, she followed and she walked alongside hundreds of parents and became central to the campaign to win Benito Juarez High School.
Inez served as a board member and president of Pilsen Neighbors Community Council, a staunch defender of the work of the organization and its people, a recruiter of many who later became significant leaders and if you ever met her, the relationship always began with a smile.
Thank you, Inez, for all you did for our organization and our community. You will be missed!
