The Scholarship Committee at PNCC encourages first time college students and/ or undergraduates to apply for this 2011/2012 school year scholarship.

The Fiesta del Sol Guadalupe A. Reyes Scholarship Program has celebrated over a decade of awarding scholarships to students from the Southwest side of the city and beyond. Due to Guadalupe A. Reyes’ dedication and commitment to people in need, the scholarship program has been renamed in her honor. The scholarship program offers an opportunity for students to get $1,500 for their college expenses.  Additionally the Scholarship Program strives to give students an opportunity to exercise leadership skills, learn how to build relationship and engage in teamwork. Fiesta del Sol has given over $700,000 in scholarships to 450 students.

Eligibility:

  • Be of Latino/Hispanic descent and live on the southwest side of Chicago within the following boundaries between 16th to 79th streets, and between Cicero Ave., (4800 West) and Canal (500 West), OR
  • Be a volunteer in a PNCC
  • Enrollment at an accredited college or university in an undergraduate, degree-seeking or certificate program or be a Junior OR
  • Be Senior in High school, accepted to an undergraduate, degree-seeking or certificate program
  • If in college, be enrolled for a minimum of at least 6 semester hours in the 2011/2012 school year or its equivalence
  • Have earned a cumulative minimum of a 2.5 GPA (on a 4-point scale or its equivalence)
  • Demonstrate community or school service
  • Demonstrate financial need
