Our Annual Fundraising Event

In 1972, Fiesta del Sol began as a celebration to commemorate PNCC’s role in securing the city’s commitment to building Benito Juarez Community Academy.  Today, Fiesta del Sol continues to reflect PNCC’s desire for social transformation reflected in community organizing.

Starting off as a block party Fiesta del Sol has evolved into a nationally publicized event with an attendance of over 1.3 million people during the four day event. As the largest Latino festival in the Midwest, Fiesta del Sol brings live entertainment, local art, diverse cuisine, carnival rides and more.  This year, we will be celebrating 40 years in the making. We are located in the Pilsen neighborhood, are family oriented, and alcohol free. The Fiesta is organized by over 200 community leaders and volunteers.

We continue organizing Fiesta del Sol because:

  1. Generates revenue to the Pilsen community
  2. Brings business to local businesses
  3. Promotes the Pilsen Community
  4. Provides scholarships to Latino youth
  5. Creates jobs for local youth
  6. Helps build leadership skills for Pilsen youth
  7. Allows local organizations and schools to fundraiser on-site
  8. Generates revenue to help support community issues such as:
  9. Education
  10. Healthcare
  11. Civil Rights of Immigrants
  12. Workforce Development
